The Unknown Building. Last August
during the Bridge Pedal I nabbed a
shot of my favorite building
in Portland. [See arrow.] Anyone know
the story behind it? Its history?

Your mysterious building is known as the Weatherly Building. It's official address is 516 SE Morrison Street. Physically, it's located on the southeast corner of the intersection of SE Grand Avenue and Morrison Street
Its current ground-floor tenant is a Bank of America Branch. Current notable tenants include the district office of US Member of Congress Earl Blumenauer.
From a recent article in the Portland Business Journal, we find the folowing:
"...The historic, 1926-built structure with a decorative terra cotta facade was among the first high-rise buildings east of the river, with 12 stories towering over the Morrison Bridge. Built by the Weatherly family, it originally housed an ice cream shop on its ground floor; now the primary ground-floor tenant is Bank of America."Reference:http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2002/02/18/daily37.htmlAyup.
